Where is Benidorm?

Benidorm is a Spanish coastal town in Alicante, Valencia. The town looks to the Mediterranean and is blessed with great natural setting which is paramount in providing it an old world charm. The tourist fare to Benidorm has appreciated by a large degree over the last few years. This means that there is greater number of people to cater to. In fact, in summer, the population of the place becomes large enough to become a froth of humanity floating on the surface of Benidorm.

The fact that the tourists are cosmopolitan adds to the pleasantness of Benidorm. There are bars and pubs which have molded themselves on the British taste buds. There are places in Valencia which have the Dutch, Flames, and British in such high degree that the locals become inconspicuous.

What about its settings?

Benidorm is encompassed by mount Puig Campana which is colossal by any standards. It adds to the natural beauty of the place. It’s true that the place weds the old world feeling to the current accent perfectly. Since the tourist explosion, lot many hotels and associated aspects of hospitality industry have bloomed.

This has resulted in a beautiful Benidorm skyline. Probably this is why Benidorm is also known as Beniyork or Manhattan. Tall skyscrapers crash into the vision which looks over the broad Campana for balance and composure.

Are there any beaches in Benidorm?

Beaches in Benidorm have their own charm. They look to the Mediterranean Sea for inspiration and Mediterranean adds to that carnival flair in no less degree. The beaches; the Levante, Poniente, Mal Pas and more have the recognition from the European Union. EU provides them with a blue flag which is a sign of repute accorded to a place. The beach is filled with festive spirit and it offers different things to different people. Parts of it look virgin which is great for those tourists who do not look for revelry but aim for solitude instead.

Many other parts hold the right mix of souvenir shops and other merchandise. They sell ethnic fare where the food is concerned and top it with local beverages. Masseurs trade in their profession with clinical efficiency. The over all idea is to let the holiday-crowd find great enjoyment and still look to relax amidst the festivities.

Does Benidorm have a night life?

The tourist explosion in Benidorm was heralded by dual factors. First was the tourist package holiday that was offered. Another was the night life that was offered by regaling pubs and bars. In fact, the cosmopolitan feeling can be gauged by the fact that some of the pubs have implemented British values and focus largely on the British taste buds.

The center of new town is a place called Square. This place has bars such as Hippodrome, café Benidorm and Lennon’s café. During summer the parties continue till late; almost as late as 7 am.

The old town is narrower with a host of small bars. Spanish Tapas bars and freak little British hangouts add to the fun of these places. “The Queens” is one place which offers an amazing karaoke set-up. The old town is also where the large part of gay community gathers to have some fun.

What is the hoopla about Benidorm theme parks?

There are four major theme parks in Benidorm. These are the terra Mitica, terra Natura, Mundomar and Aqualandia. The most important among them is Terra Mitica. It has a nice repertoire of rollercoaster and slides. The Spanish Disneyland is reminiscent of many civilizations which have been duly accorded one section each. There is the Roman section, the Egyptian section, the Greek section and even the Iberian section. (Civilization spread on the Iberian Peninsula tied to Spain) terra Mitica is open for long duration extending to midnight in summer. It is closed in the first three months of the year. Terra Mitica is being overviewed by the monumental Puig Campana which creates an illusion of space for the theme park. The natural setting adds to the feeling of a well spent day.

Terra Natura is another theme park which has been given large dimensions. Though these are not the replicas of African safaris but the trip can let you enjoy animals roaming in their natural habitat. It makes for a great scene altogether. In the northern end of Playa Levante, there are Terra Mitica stalls that provide nice rebates on both of these parks; the Terra Mitica and Terra Natura. Further, there are hosts of travel agents who are all too willing to make the task easier for you.

Aqualandia holds the biggest water park in Europe. Mondumar holds a colossal aquatic theme park that showcases a liberal dose of sea life. The dolphin show marks its highs. From 14th may to 12th October, the watery expanse of Aqualandia embraces visitors from 10 am. The tickets cost 23 euro per adult and 16 euro per child; for Mundomar its 20 euros and 16 euros respectively.

Apart from the travel agents, the tourist offices scattered in different corners of Benidorm also provide discount vouchers for the place.

What about Benidorm restaurants?

The list of quality eat-outs is not limited to hundreds. They verily touch the 1000 mark for Benidorm. There is a-la-carte, tapas, snacks being served by cafes, café bars and full fledged restaurants; 1000 restaurants means that even during the times of huge tourist in-flow, there is never a dearth of eat-outs catering to the taste buds of myriad tourists. The place serves exquisite British fare with Mediterranean ethnic food and also sumptuous Valencia dishes; for instance the paella.

At major restaurants, bread and a bottle of wine is available for less than 10 euros. This means that the tourists need not smuggle money for their daily dose of wine. Calle De La Palma in old town offers nice four course meals and a-la-carte. Food range offered is quite huge as well.
