Benidorm fiesta: the cavalcade of three kings
Benidorm amasses great tourist footfall owing to its pleasant old world charm. Blue flag beaches with rock less stretch of sand gives a balmy feeling. The theme parks are adrenalin pumping and the ethnic spread is a gastronomic adventure. The night life of benidorm also warrants attention. The idea is to have a blast. The cosmopolitan flavor built over a period of time gives the tourist a feeling of belonging. Even the fiestas spur a great craze. The revelry has to be seen to be believed.
Come November and the pleasantries starts. It builds by the time of Christmas. Benidorm, the Spanish recess, celebrates its Patron’s presence by paying homage through a fiesta. Saint patron’s day is marked with music, fun and frolic. Another one that deserves a mention is the cavalcade of three kings. It’s a procession of the three kings through the streets of Rome.
On 5th of January, Benidorm celebrates a fiesta in the memory of three kings who have an episode of bible dedicated to them. The three kings reek in splendor as they come on horseback. The march of the procession through the streets is quite a scene. For a moment, each thing hangs in fine balance and the crowd gazes with awe at the spectacle of such mass magnitude. The kings have a coterie behind them. These people distribute sweets to everyone on the streets.
The tourists witness the fun at the Piazza triangular at midnight on 31st January and enjoy the activity of eating 12 grapes; a rather weird one, one might believe. It gets weirder in the procession of the three kings. Weirdness looks from behind the framework of the procession and thankfully it’s a pleasant weirdness. The procession is really huge by many standards. Children line the roads looking for present and don’t they get them.
The bauble filed floats run a riot of colors and they provide the children with conventional sweets. The idea is to bring a lot of merriment while reproducing the mood of fiesta. There is dance, music, gala and a lot more associated with the movement of the kings. All the kings are being attired in brilliant outfits and each detail is being meticulously examined. It seems as if the Kings of the ether world are marching on human grounds.
The tourists can obviously get the detail through the tourist reception desk finding out the exact time of the procession and also the area through which the event passes. The tourists are a regaled lot by the time the procession ends. They look forward to coming to Benidorm for the arrival of Blessed Virgin.
People of Spain love the fine art of doing nothing. This laid-back motley of natives need a flimsy excuse to roll their pants and join in a festival. This is where the fiestas become so enticing to the tourists. The tourists are also asked to participate. There is food, music, dance in each corner of the city and the Mediterranean recess forgets about the past and the future and drowns itself in the effervescence of the moment.
